BG = 1/3 x BE
BG = 1/3 x 9
BG = 3

GE = 2/3 x BE
GE = 2/3 x 9
GE = 6

If you check your definition of the centroid, you will find that it is 2/3 of the way from each vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side.

So, if EB is 9, how far is 2/3 of the way from E to B?
