Do publish your work (stories, art wk, etc.) will express colleges (ivy league). I'm partcipating some contests that involved publishing work (if one of the winners). Like Scholastic Arts and Writing, Schloastic Kids Are Authors, and National Children Book of the Year Contest, that's pretty much it but I'm looking for more tho.

College may consider these publications. But remember, the most important factor is high SAT and/or ACT scores.

The Scholastic Kids Are Authors is for grades k-8 not high schoolers so I'm doing it this year and next year. I'm going to try to publish my stories but I have to find a place to do it.

I know your right that is the important thing but they also want others things too.

Publishing your work, such as stories, art, or other creative pieces, can indeed have a positive impact on your college applications, including those to Ivy League schools. It shows initiative, dedication, talent, and a commitment to your craft. Participating in contests like Scholastic Arts and Writing, Scholastic Kids Are Authors, and the National Children Book of the Year Contest is a great start.

Here's how publishing your work can help you express your abilities to colleges:

1. Demonstrates accomplishments: Publishing your work showcases your achievements and the recognition you have received for your creative abilities. This can impress college admissions officers and potentially set you apart from other applicants.

2. Highlights your talents: Publishing allows you to demonstrate your proficiency and skill in your chosen creative field, whether it be writing, art, or any other form. It shows that you have a unique talent and can excel in a particular area.

3. Reflects dedication and passion: Through participating in contests and seeking opportunities to publish, you exhibit a high level of dedication and passion for your craft. This can demonstrate your commitment to your art and your ability to pursue goals with enthusiasm.

4. Provides a portfolio: By publishing your work, you develop a portfolio of accomplishments that you can include with your college applications. This portfolio serves as tangible evidence of your abilities and can be used to support your personal statement or other application materials.

To expand your opportunities for publishing work and participating in contests, consider the following steps:

1. Research additional contests: Look for other national or regional contests that align with your areas of interest and expertise. Many organizations and institutions hold competitions that recognize students' creative work.

2. Explore literary magazines and journals: Many magazines and journals accept submissions from students and young writers/artists. Research and submit your work to these publications to increase your chances of being published.

3. Utilize online platforms: There are various online platforms where you can share your creative work and gain recognition. Websites like Medium, Wattpad, or DeviantArt allow you to publish your work digitally and potentially reach a wider audience.

4. Seek local opportunities: Investigate local newspapers, community magazines, or art galleries that may feature student work. Participating in local events and exhibitions can help you gain exposure and potentially get published.

Remember, while publishing your work can be beneficial, it is also crucial to focus on the quality and creativity of your pieces. The recognition you receive through contests and publications should be seen as a reflection of your growth and passion rather than just a means for college admissions.
