i usually go to dictionary. c o m for words but isnt com USA? there is no dictionary . ca so that mean that pronounciation on dictionary site isnt canadain? i looking for canadian pronounciation.

I don't think there is such a dictionary online. Accents vary from place to place in both Canada and the U.S. Use the pronunciations in any standard dictionary.

ok thank you ms. sue :) can I know if there is a pronounciation canadian voice thing online? like you type in a word and they say it in that canadian accent.

I didn't find any site like that. I suggest you ask a friend whose native language is English to pronounce some words for you.

ok thank you ms. sue :)

The only one I can suggest is the Oxford English Dictionary -- www.oed.com

You may have to create an account, and I don't know if it's free or not, but it's worth checking out.

Other places to check on are the library websites of various Canadian universities. Here's one:

http://www.library.ubc.ca/welcome.html

thank you Writeacher for help i will try all those sites out :)

You're welcome!

Here's another idea to try.
1. Go to http://www.onelook.com
2. Enter the word.
3. The results will show up in different dictionaries -- look at the list at the left. You'll see this:
Compact Oxford English Dictionary

While it is true that the ".com" domain is predominantly associated with websites from the United States, it does not necessarily mean that a website with a ".com" domain only provides information specific to the United States. Many websites with a ".com" domain have a global reach and offer information that is not limited to a particular country.

For your specific question about Canadian pronunciation, you can still find accurate pronunciations on dictionary websites such as dictionary.com. These websites often include international variations in pronunciation, including Canadian English. However, it is important to note that dictionaries may prioritize the more widely used pronunciations, which can sometimes be influenced by the United States or other English-speaking countries.

To ensure you find Canadian-specific pronunciations, you can consider using Canadian dictionary websites or resources. Some reliable options include:

1. The Canadian Oxford Dictionary (available in print or online): This dictionary focuses on Canadian English and includes Canadian pronunciations.
2. The Cambridge English Dictionary (Canada edition): Cambridge offers regional editions of its dictionary, including one for Canada, which can provide Canadian pronunciations as well.
3. The Dictionary of Canadianisms on Historical Principles: A comprehensive online dictionary that focuses specifically on Canadian English and includes Canadian pronunciations.

These resources can provide you with accurate Canadian pronunciations for English words.
