Role of CRTC is to regulate the amount of foreign material broadcast over the airwaves and impose rules requiring Canadian content. I think it may be a little necessary because if it not for this agency then Canadians don't learn about their own culture if they just watch American shows, American shows also good, but culture needs to be passed to children and watching American shows teach them about U.S culture only and values. U.S programs topped the list of Canadians television favorites and some people that are nationalists probably not like this.
but to be honest i actually watch more american and canadian shows more than my own culture so it don't really matter to me but still own culture you should know by heart.
