Chemistry (Check)

Thanks but can you check another one for me

The Valence electrons largely determine the blank of an element and are usually the only electrons used in blank.

T have the first one as chemical properties, whats the second blank

chemical properties would work for the first blank but others (valence, combining power) would work, too. The second one can have a variety of answers. I would pick somethink like "bonding" but compound formation would work too.
