How do I estimate these?

1. 7/8 + 3 1/4

2. 5 1/9 - 2/3

3. 9 5/6 divided 2 1/8

4. 6 divided 1/2

7/8 is about 1, 3 1/4 is about 3, 1+3=4? And follow the same pattern for th rest. That's how i would estimate it :s

And an example for division is 9 5/6 is about 10, 2 1/8 is about 2, 10 / 2 = 5.
Hopes this helps

Thanks! can you please show me how to do these:

2 1/3 x 3 1/2

4 2/3 divided 7

To estimate these calculations, you can use rounding or approximation methods. Here's how you can estimate each of the given expressions:

1. 7/8 + 3 1/4:
- Round 7/8 to the nearest whole number, which is 1.
- Round 3 1/4 to the nearest whole number, which is 3.
- Add the rounded numbers: 1 + 3 = 4.
- The estimated answer is 4.

2. 5 1/9 - 2/3:
- Round 5 1/9 to the nearest whole number, which is 5.
- Round 2/3 to the nearest whole number, which is 1.
- Subtract the rounded numbers: 5 - 1 = 4.
- The estimated answer is 4.

3. 9 5/6 divided 2 1/8:
- Round 9 5/6 to the nearest whole number, which is 10.
- Round 2 1/8 to the nearest whole number, which is 2.
- Divide the rounded numbers: 10 ÷ 2 = 5.
- The estimated answer is 5.

4. 6 divided 1/2:
- Convert 1/2 to a decimal by dividing the numerator (1) by the denominator (2): 1 ÷ 2 = 0.5.
- Divide 6 by the decimal: 6 ÷ 0.5 = 12.
- The estimated answer is 12.

Remember, these are just estimates, and the actual answers may differ slightly from these approximations.
