  1. One physical change is that the candle melts. One chemical change is that some of the candle (wax--which is a hydrocarbon) combines with oxygen to produce CO2 and H2O. This is an exothermic reaction and produces heat and light in addition to the other products. Read in your text or notes to help understand what is going on.
