x/(x+3) + 2/5 = 0

Put all fractions over a common denominator: 5(x+3)

(x*5 + 2(x+3))/5(x+3) = 0
(5x + 2x + 6)/5(x+3) = 0
(7x+6)/5(x+3) = 0

Now, if x = -3 we have a problem. Can't divide by zero.

Otherwise, the fraction is zero if the numerator is zero.

7x+6 = 0
x = -6/7

That's not -3, so we're good.
