i need to define a variable and write an algebraic expression for each phraase.

1) two points few than 3 times the number of points scored yesterday.
i wrote: 3p-2 =

2) one metere more than 6 times your height in meters
i wrote: 1 + 6h

3) seven pages fewer than half the number of pages read last week
i wrote: 1/2p - 7 =

4) 8 pounds less than five times the weight of a chicken in pounds
i wrote: 5c -8 =

5) twice the distance in miles flown last year , plus 100 miles
i wrote: 2d + 100

are these right?

yes those are correct

All are correct! :-)

great thanks matt and Ms. Sue.

thanks very much!

You're very welcome, Marko.

your welcome

Yes, your algebraic expressions are correct! Great job.

1) The expression 3p-2 represents "two points fewer than 3 times the number of points scored yesterday."

2) The expression 1 + 6h represents "one meter more than 6 times your height in meters."

3) The expression 1/2p - 7 represents "seven pages fewer than half the number of pages read last week."

4) The expression 5c - 8 represents "8 pounds less than five times the weight of a chicken in pounds."

5) The expression 2d + 100 represents "twice the distance in miles flown last year, plus 100 miles."

Well done on correctly defining the variables and constructing appropriate algebraic expressions for each phrase!
