I need some ideas on a story about a Christmas tree...

How about?
The scrawniest tree on the lot is given to a poor family and makes them very happy -- especially after they put on homemade decorations.
A tree feels fulfilled after all of the expensive ornaments are taken off and it's left out in the snow for birds and small creatures to shelter from the winter storm.
