Biology Genetics Codons and Amino Acids
okay im totally lost here,
the question i need to answer is
explain why codons can't consist of two bases instead of three for each amino acid.
im so confused..help!
There wouldn't be enough codes in a two base system. With a three base system, as in UGA, there are sixty four possible codes, in a two base system, as in UA, there are only 16 codes available.
