Hi. I've tried doing these problems and got long decimals that don't make sense. Please help!!

1) 13x + 6=4x-4
2) (1/2)x + 8= 3x + 2
3) (n/3) + 8=n + 1
4) 2n + 3= 2n + 3 I don't know how I would find n in this one!!
5) 5x + 2(2x-1)=-16
Thanks so much for all the help!!!

1) 13x + 6=4x-4

13x- 4x = -6 + (-4)
9x = -10
x = -1.111

4) If you copied the problem correctly, it can't be solved.

5) 5x + 2(2x-1)=-16
5x + 4x - 2 = -16
9x = -14
x = -14/9
x = -1.5556

Can anyone else help with the problems? Much appreciated :)

If you how us how you've tried to solve the problems, we'll be much better able to help you.

Hello! I'd be happy to help you with these problems. When solving equations, it's important to follow a few steps to find the values of unknown variables. Let's go through each problem one by one.

1) To solve for x in the equation 13x + 6 = 4x - 4, we want to isolate the x on one side of the equation.

Subtracting 4x from both sides of the equation, we get 13x - 4x + 6 = -4.
16x + 6 = -4.

Next, subtract 6 from both sides of the equation to get rid of the constant term. This leaves us with 16x = -10.

Finally, divide both sides of the equation by 16 to solve for x. We have x = -10/16, which simplifies to x = -5/8.

2) In the equation (1/2)x + 8 = 3x + 2, we again want to isolate x on one side of the equation.

Subtracting (1/2)x from both sides of the equation, the equation becomes 8 = 2.5x + 2.

Next, subtract 2 from both sides of the equation to get rid of the constant term. We have 8 - 2 = 2.5x.
6 = 2.5x.

To solve for x, divide both sides of the equation by 2.5. This gives us x = 6/2.5, which simplifies to x = 12/5 or 2.4.

3) In the equation (n/3) + 8 = n + 1, our first step is to eliminate the fraction by multiplying both sides of the equation by 3.

This gives us (n/3) * 3 + 8 * 3 = n * 3 + 1 * 3.
n + 24 = 3n + 3.

Next, subtract n from both sides of the equation to isolate the variable terms. We have 24 = 2n + 3.

Then, subtract 3 from both sides: 24 - 3 = 2n.
21 = 2n.

Finally, divide both sides of the equation by 2 to solve for n. We get n = 21/2, which simplifies to n = 10.5.

4) The equation in problem 4, 2n + 3 = 2n + 3, seems to contain the same term on both sides. In this case, the equation is an identity, which means it holds true for any value of n. This means that there are infinitely many solutions for n, and any value of n would satisfy the equation.

5) In the equation 5x + 2(2x - 1) = -16, let's start by simplifying the equation.

Using the distributive property, we have 5x + 4x - 2 = -16.

Combining like terms, the equation becomes 9x - 2 = -16.

Next, add 2 to both sides of the equation to isolate the variable term. We have 9x = -14.

Lastly, divide both sides of the equation by 9 to solve for x. This gives us x = -14/9, which cannot be simplified further.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
