find each product metally using the distributive property

i know for 4 (10.2) i do this
= 4 (10 + 2)
= 4 (10) + 4 (2)
= 40. + .8
= 40.8
but I am not sure how to show work on on following 2 problems:
11.6 (9)

and 3.4 (5)

#1 I would do (11*0.6)+(11*5)

#2 (3*0.4)+(3*0.5)

Figure out the rest!

instructions are to find the product mentally using the distribution property:

11.6 (9) = 104.40
but you have:
(11 x 0.6) + (11x5)
6.6 + 55
= 61.60 ?? i don't understand

problem 2
3.4 (5)
you show: 3 x 0.4 + 3 + 0.5
= 1.2 + 15 = 2.7? i don't understand?
pls explain how you got this

To find the product of 11.6 and 9 using the distributive property, you can follow these steps:

1. Start by breaking down 11.6 into its whole number part and its decimal part: 11 + 0.6.
2. Distribute 9 to both the whole number part and the decimal part:
-> For the whole number part: 9 * 11 = 99.
-> For the decimal part: 9 * 0.6 = 5.4.
3. Add the products from steps 2 to get the final result:
-> 99 + 5.4 = 104.4.
Therefore, the product of 11.6 and 9 is 104.4.

Now let's move on to finding the product of 3.4 and 5:

1. Similarly, break down 3.4 into its whole number part and its decimal part: 3 + 0.4.
2. Distribute 5 to both the whole number part and the decimal part:
-> For the whole number part: 5 * 3 = 15.
-> For the decimal part: 5 * 0.4 = 2.
3. Add the products from steps 2 to get the final result:
-> 15 + 2 = 17.
Therefore, the product of 3.4 and 5 is 17.
