# statistics

Six students from a statistic class reported the number of hours of television they watched per week. Here are their data: 8,10,5,14,3,6. What is the median number of hours of television watched per week for this sample of 6 students

1. first arrange the numbers in order: 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 14

then find the middle number. since there are two numbers in the middle, 5 and 6, you would add them and divide by 2

so, 5+6 divide by 2 = 5.5

2. I'm afraid Pauline goofed.

The two numbers in the middle are 6 and 8. The median is 7.
