What is the meaning of this poem?

A single flower he sent me, since we met.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet--
One perfect rose.

I knew the language of the floweret;
"My fragile leaves," it said, "his heart enclose."
Love long has taken for his amulet
One perfect rose.

Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.

You are entirely welcome...

So she values material wealth?

Think about the situation. And second think about the "irony".

Here is a young lady whose beau believes her to be as lovely as a rose, the legend old symbol of the perfect love. HOWEVER....what is it she really wants and considers the perfect gift....
Have you ever heard the expression, "not for love nor money" <G>

Well, obviously "love" doesn't turn her on.

Thanx. I was thinking that the first and second stanzas were just there to kinda through you off to thinking that she loved him. In the third one she lets out her emotions and states the truth. Is this also correct?

<G> At least, for certain, she values a fancy car as opposed to a beautiful rose. Do you see the irony?

Yes. Thank-you ver much.

Absolutely, we don't know whether she does or not. We do know what she values.
