Here are links to many different ethologists. Read through the article linked to each person's name, and then decide which two you want to compare/contrast.

Hi Rebecca! I'd be happy to help you with your assignment on ethologists. Ethology is the scientific study of animal behavior, involving observation and analysis of behaviors and their underlying mechanisms. Since you're specifically interested in animal ethologists for your dog psychology degree, I can provide you with a few famous ethologists whose work you can compare.

1. Konrad Lorenz: Known for his study of animal behavior and imprinting, Lorenz was a pioneering ethologist. He conducted extensive research on various animal species, including geese and ducks, and investigated how young animals imprint on their parents or caretakers.

2. Jane Goodall: Although primarily known for her work with chimpanzees, Jane Goodall's contributions as a primatologist and ethologist are invaluable. Her study on the behavior of wild chimpanzees revolutionized our understanding of primate behavior and challenged previous assumptions about their intelligence and social structures.

3. Karl von Frisch: Considered a founder of modern ethology, von Frisch studied the behavior of bees. His research on the waggle dance communication system used by honeybees to relay information about nectar sources earned him a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

4. Temple Grandin: While not primarily an ethologist, Temple Grandin is a prominent animal behaviorist and autism activist. Her work is focused on understanding and improving the welfare of livestock in agricultural settings. Her insights into animal behavior and her designs of livestock handling facilities have made a significant impact on the industry.

To dive deeper into these ethologists' work and understand why they are considered influential, you can search for their books, research papers, or documentaries. This will provide you with more specific information to compare their contributions to the field of ethology. Good luck with your assignment, Rebecca!
