3) After the fire, the narrator and his wife move to an old building. One day, while they are going into the cellar, the cat almost makes the narrator fall to the ground. Furious, he tries to kill it with an axe.
4) Instead, he kills his wife who has tried to defend the cat. He cuts her body into pieces and walls both his wife and the cat up in the cellar.
When an investigation begins, he is able to convince the police that he has nothing to do with it.
5) But, while the policemen are already gone away, he touches the wall where his wife has been buried with a stick. First a sobbing and then a long scream come from within wall. When the policemen demolish it, the body of his wife, with the cat on her head, fall to the ground.
