Im a little confused can someone please help?

Solve: -7x-24=-26 1/3

This is what i did, not sure if I did it right.
-7x-24=-26 and 1/3, -24 from both sides
-7x= 2 and 1/3, then divide by -7 and got x= -2 and 1/3 over -7 I have no idea how to right that so I know it has to be wrong, please help!!

x=-46/21

Double check the math on this.

-7*-(46/21)-24 = 26/3

-7*-1/3 - 24 = 26+1/3
x=1/3

first get rid of that useless mixed fraction.

-7x-24=-79/3
now multiply each term by -3 to get rid of fractions and all those negative signs
21x + 72 = 79
21x = 7
x = 7/21 = 1/3

To solve the given equation -7x - 24 = -26 1/3, you started off correctly. Let's go through the steps to solve it:

Step 1: Remove the fraction by converting 1/3 into a mixed fraction:
-26 1/3 = -26 - 1/3 = -26 - 1/3 * 3/3 = -26 - 3/3 = -26 - 1 = -27

So, the equation becomes -7x - 24 = -27.

Step 2: To isolate the variable, start by adding 24 to both sides of the equation:
-7x - 24 + 24 = -27 + 24
-7x = -3

Step 3: Now, divide both sides of the equation by -7 to solve for x:
(-7x)/-7 = -3/-7
x = 3/7

Therefore, the solution to the equation -7x - 24 = -26 1/3 is x = 3/7.
