I forgot to include this sentence. Can you please check the tense choice since I switched from the past to the present? Thank you.

1) In the poem Daffodils the flowers are presented not as statically as in a painting, but alive with motion. 2.They lay beside the lake, beneath the trees. In the second stanza the daffodils are portrayed as numerous as the stars in the milky way since they stretch in a never-ending line. 3.They tossed their heads in sprightly dance and outdid the waves in glee. The sight of the flowers brings the poet delight, but he realizes it only afterwards when memory brings back the scene.
4) We came across (I need a synonym) an example of indirect interior monologue when considering Mrs Ramsay's flow of thoughts in V. Woolf's To the Lightouse.
5. While she is knitting a stocking for the housekeeper's little boy, she realizes (I need a synonym)how shabby the furniture looks. Then she starts thinking that there in no point in buying new one (?) since the house is occupied by an old woman for the most part of the year.
