Thank You anyway for your help !

My own opinion is that Grant's greatest problem was getting to Vicksburg at all. He tried all kinds of approaches down the streams on the Mississippi side, then down the west bank until finally floating the fleet past and moving the army downstream and across to Mississippi below Vicksburg, then cutting loose from his supply train and circling around south of Vicksburg to attack Vicksburg from the rear(East) after taking Jackson on the way around.

However I am a physicist and best ignored on this subject :)

Damon..you explain it well !:) This is one subject I always had a hard time absorbing...doing my best..your help is again appreciated in helping me to continue on this subject...Thanks again!
