to get the slope, we first transform this into slope-intercept form, y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

x + 5y = 10
note that in slope-intercept form, y is the only term on the left side, and all other terms on the right side. thus,
5y = -x + 10
then also notice that the numerical coefficient of y (number before y) is 1. thus we divide both sides by 5 to get y alone:
y = (-1/5)x + 2
thus, m = slope = -1/5
