English

Hello.
Will you please help me with the word order:
1)US forces have killed Osama bin Laden, who with his wives and sons has been living in a luxury compound in Pakistan for many years. (Is "who with" natural here; does "who together with" or "who along with" sound better?)
2)US forces have killed Osama bin Laden, who has been livig with his wives and sons in a luxury compound in Pakistan for many years. (is this word order possible or better?)
3)... the former Egyptian president, who has been staying under house arrest for several months at the resort of Sharm el-Sheiks with his family. (is this word order possible, I mean the position of "for several months" or is it better to put it at the end of the sentence?
Thank you for your time and help.

  1. It's best if you don't put prepositional phrases between the subject of a clause or sentence and its verb.

    1) US forces have killed Osama bin Laden, who has been living in a luxury compound in Pakistan with his wives and sons for many years.

    2) US forces have killed Osama bin Laden, who has been living with his wives and sons in a luxury compound in Pakistan for many years. <~~This is better, yes.

    3) ... the former Egyptian president, who has been under house arrest for several months at the resort of Sharm el-Sheiks with his family. <~~This word order is fine. You shouldn't put "for several months" at the end.
