We have to do a presentation about the 60s and choose the most significant event. Our teacher said we may interview experts or people around the time to get more information, as this task is independant.

Could as many people as possible please answer my survey? I have chosen to do the space race.

1) How old were you in 1969?
2) What do you remember of the moon landing?
3) What do you remember of the "space race"?
4) If you were in school during the time, was it something you talked about to your friends?
5) Was the "space race" a big deal, when it was actually happening, or did it just pass you by?
6) How much of an impact do you remember the moon landing making?
7) Do you remember anyone suggesting that the moon landing was a conspiracy during the 60s?
8) What do you remember about the Russians attempt to go into space?
9) Any other details or stories you remember from the 60s about the moon landing and/or the "space race"?

1) How old were you in 1969? 40.I'm only 39 now! :-))
2) What do you remember of the moon landing? almost everything
3) What do you remember of the "space race"? most of it

Thank you :)

what are the mummy-shaped figures that worked in the afterlife's fields for the mummy?

1) How old were you in 1969? 26
2) What do you remember of the moon landing? Watching the landing on TV and trying to understand what Neil Armstrong said. After some talking head or another restated it, I got it!
3) What do you remember of the "space race"? That it was happening; that's about it.
4) If you were in school during the time, was it something you talked about to your friends? I was out of school, but not teaching yet ... too busy with tiny children to take care of.
5) Was the "space race" a big deal, when it was actually happening, or did it just pass you by? Just went right on by!
6) How much of an impact do you remember the moon landing making? It got big coverage on TV and in newspapers.
7) Do you remember anyone suggesting that the moon landing was a conspiracy during the 60s? No
8) What do you remember about the Russians attempt to go into space? I remember when the Russians successfully launched Sputnik and the effect all that had on the need to rev up math and science education in the US. The term "the space race" was a biggie.
9) Any other details or stories you remember from the 60s about the moon landing and/or the "space race"? My grandfather (who died about 5 months later) was fascinated by all this. He was a native of San Francisco (age 12 when the massive earthquake hit); he survived the Depression with a wife, four children, and a decent business; he sent two sons off to war; he saw the rise of automobiles, radio, telephones, television, etc., and he REALLY wanted to see that moon landing. He got his wish.

1) How old were you in 1969?
37
2) What do you remember of the moon landing? Every moment of it. I sat there mesmorized with tears!
3) What do you remember of the "space race"? I was very concerned, since that was during the time of the Cold War.
4) If you were in school during the time, was it something you talked about to your friends? Had just taken time off from teaching to have #3 son.
5) Was the "space race" a big deal, when it was actually happening, or did it just pass you by? Very big deal.

6) How much of an impact do you remember the moon landing making?
It was a time of great national pride. We had taken a huge step into the future.

7) Do you remember anyone suggesting that the moon landing was a conspiracy during the 60s? Absolutely not.

8) What do you remember about the Russians attempt to go into space?
Just about everything. We thought we were in a race for not just the moon but also for the prevention of another war. We had to stay equal with Russia. So when Russia put a craft into space, it gave the US a tremendous motivation to improve its science/math programs from Kindergarten- up, and to put an emphasis on all sorts of scientific development.
9) Any other details or stories you remember from the 60s about the moon landing and/or the "space race"?
Those were exciting times. My husband was working then on the computors that would one day help further the space programs.

1) How old were you in 1969? 35
2) What do you remember of the moon landing? We were on a camping trip in northern Michigan at that time. On a very foggy night, we went into a nearby small town to see the moon walk on TV. Our 13-year-old son was especially interested.
3) What do you remember of the "space race"? As a result of the "space race," a lot of federal money was poured into science education in hopes that we could catch up with the Soviet Union. My husband benefitted because as a science teacher with only a bachelor's degree, he received free tuition to get his masters in biology.
4) If you were in school during the time, was it something you talked about to your friends?
5) Was the "space race" a big deal, when it was actually happening, or did it just pass you by? Although it made the Buck Rogers stories I'd seen as a kid come close to true, I was too busy teaching and raising a family to be very engrossed in it.
6) How much of an impact do you remember the moon landing making? It was probably the biggest story of the decade.
7) Do you remember anyone suggesting that the moon landing was a conspiracy during the 60s? Yes. There are always wild conspiracy theories about everything.
8) What do you remember about the Russians attempt to go into space? I think they sent a dog up first -- and it didn't come back alive.
9) Any other details or stories you remember from the 60s about the moon landing and/or the "space race"? It kindled a lot of interest in space, especially among scientifically inclined teens.

1) i was 20
2) everything
3) Alot of it
4) In college we talked about it alot
5) It was a big deal.
6) It was a big impact for everybody
7) Yes
8) I remember it all.
9) I remember us all sitting around the TV and watching everything happen for the first time in history. AMAZING.
