Please help -

9/x-5-1=8/x+5
(x+5)(x-5)9/x-5-1(x+5)(x-5)=(x+5)(x-5)8/x+5
9(x+5)=8(x-5)
9x+45=8x-40

And I'm not sure where to go from here.

If possible could you separate fractions with commas, i.e.

(9/x)-5-1=(8/x)+5

or is it 9 over x-5-1 and so on and so forth.

Sorry. The problem should read 9 over x-5 -1 = 8 over x+5

To solve the equation 9x + 45 = 8x - 40, follow these steps:

Step 1: Combine like terms
Subtract 8x from both sides of the equation:
9x - 8x + 45 = 8x - 8x - 40
x + 45 = -40

Step 2: Isolate the variable on one side
To isolate x, subtract 45 from both sides of the equation:
x + 45 - 45 = -40 - 45
x = -85

Therefore, the solution to the equation 9x + 45 = 8x - 40 is x = -85.
