  1. To find that out, you would use the pythagorean theorum, which is a^2 + b^2 = c^2. c willl always be the largest number, so in this case it would be 17. It doesn't matter which of the other two is a and which is b. So, now you see if 6^2 + 14^2 = 17^2.

    So, you do 6(6) + 14(14) = 17(17), and if the two sides of the equation are equal, than it's a right triangle. If not, then it isn't.
