    Carbon is C
    Argon is Ar
    That spells CAR.
    Chlorine is Cl
    Oxygen is O
    Selenium is Se
    That spells Close.
BUT I don't get what follows.

  2. Is this supposed to teach students something?

It's off topic sort of but I don't think assignments like this will teach students anything and ps spelling random words which are not related to the subject are odd in my opinion.
