Can you please check if everything is correct? I included two paragraphs on the history of Ireland. Thank you.

1) The rebels occupied Dublin's key buildings and for some days had control of the city. The revolt, however, was put down by the British army and 14 of the rebels, including their leader Patrick Pearse, were executed.
2)Despite its failure, the Easter Rising was the real beginning of Irish Independence.
3) One of the Irish armed groups was the Irish nationalist party Sinn Feein, which in Gaelic means "ourselves alone". In the 1918 election Sinn Fein won throught Ireland, except in the predominantly Protestant Ulster.
4) With this overwhelming majority, the newly elected Irish MPs did not join the British Parliament, as they had done, but met in the Dial in Dublin, announcing that Ireland was now a republic.
5) The War of Independence began in 1919, led by the IRA and Sinn Fein; it ended in 1921 with the establishment of the Irish Free State, an independent Ireland within the British Commonwealth. Only Ulster remained united with Britain.

Fein is mispelled in (3), and "throught" in the same paragraph probably should be "throughout."

In (4), you probably want the word "previously" before "had done". The word "instead" would improve the sentence before or after "met". That is just a matter of style.

(1) would look and read better if you started a new sentence with "Fourteen".

Other that that, I see no grammatical problems.

DrWLS is right.

The only other thing I'd add is that there needs to be a comma after "British army" in #1. That's a compound sentence, and this is one of the PRIMARY comma uses in English.

The paragraphs you provided give a brief overview of the history of Ireland and its struggle for independence. Let's go through each statement and check for accuracy.

1) The statement mentions that rebels occupied key buildings in Dublin during the Easter Rising in 1916, but were ultimately defeated by the British army. This is historically correct.

2) The statement claims that despite the failure of the Easter Rising, it marked the real beginning of Irish Independence. This interpretation is debatable, as the Easter Rising served as a catalyst for the Irish nationalist movement but did not directly lead to independence. However, it did increase support for Irish independence in subsequent years.

3) The statement correctly mentions Sinn Fein as an Irish nationalist party meaning "ourselves alone" in Gaelic. It also states that Sinn Fein won in the 1918 election throughout Ireland, except in Ulster which was predominantly Protestant.

4) The statement accurately states that after winning the 1918 election, the newly elected Irish MPs from Sinn Fein did not join the British Parliament but instead established the Irish parliament called the Dáil Éireann in Dublin. They declared Ireland a republic.

5) The statement correctly mentions the War of Independence, which started in 1919 and was led by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and Sinn Fein. It ended with the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in 1921, establishing the Irish Free State as a self-governing dominion within the British Commonwealth. However, it should be noted that only a portion of Ireland became the Irish Free State, while Northern Ireland remained part of the United Kingdom.

Overall, the statements you provided offer a general overview of the history of Ireland and its struggle for independence. While there may be some minor nuances or additional details, the paragraphs provide a good starting point for understanding this significant period in Irish history.
