Compose a 2 path story of your future. The story which you are going to write must explore 2 choices: what will take place in your future if you don’t gruduate upper secondary school and receive some post-secondary education. And the other part is that what will occur if you end up graduating high school and obtain post-secondary training.

Issues that will be raised at your day and should be addressed in whole or in part in your story are:

- cost of living on your own
-factors that add to your achievement in the workplace
-educational attainment and earning potential
-current skills and talents and your future route
-benefits/opportunities available to those with post-secondary education
-opportunity trade-offs in leaving school before graduation

2 suggestions for the form that your story takes could be in the form of a day in the life or a summation of your life told from an advanced age. You could choose other possibilities if you wish, but keep in mind that there should be two versions: the path taken and the path that could have been taken.

Ive completed one path of my life---and that one is about not taking post secondary education. Could you please check to see if I have everything covered.

A day of my life with no graduation
I have a part time job at a grocery store, and many of my friends are at college. It isn’t that easy to manage my money as I have to pay for utilities and other needs, I cannot buy my wants. It’s not viable for me to live a luxurious life. I tend to push myself too much which causes me stress and lack of rest. The job I have provides a good income, but with post secondary education, I could have done much more. I have work experience, but no high school diploma, and my education level is also low. I have a positive attitude at my work, my behaviour is always good, and I never give anyone a chance to complain. I set good standards for others to follow. There aren’t that many opportunities available to me. Future doesn’t seemed to be filled with success as my goals and dreams have been shattered as I have not been able to graduate and achieve good grades. I have been able to achieve no credits which make things worse. Without credits, I do not have the right to enter university.

That was awesome. I think you covered everything that I say if I were you. I loved to see that you have included longer words. Also, I can see that you don't really like school? That's OK!

Oh, no I like school, I just have to create two pathways and talk about them, so I have done the pathway of me not taking post secondary education, and Im working on creating a day of my life(short story) of taking it. Obviously, I would choose to take post secondary education:)

Oh, sorry misunderstanding. Just write the opposite of what you already have said.

I agree with Bridgett! This part of your essay is excellent!

Thanks so much Ms. Sue...I just wasn't sure if it covered all of these issues.

-cost of living on your own
-factors that add to your achievement in the workplace
-educational attainment and earning potential
-current skills and talents and your future route
-benefits/opportunities available to those with post-secondary education
-opportunity trade-offs in leaving school before graduation

I think I have covered all of this, not sure about the last point.

Your opportunity trade-off is that you were able to start earning money sooner. But as you pointed out -- the money isn't very great.

Some people quit school to earn money so they can help support their family or to support a child.

Alright, thanks so much, I actually didn't know that, thanks so much for the information Ms. Sue:) I will work on my other path and submit it here soon:)

You're very welcome, Sara. I look forward to reading the other path.

In your story, you have touched on several important aspects of what your future might look like if you do not graduate high school and receive post-secondary education. Here is a breakdown of the issues you have addressed and some additional points you may want to consider:

1. Cost of living on your own: You mention that it is not easy to manage your money with a part-time job, and you cannot afford to live a luxurious life. You may want to explore further the challenges of paying for rent, utilities, groceries, and other expenses without a higher level of education.

2. Factors that contribute to success in the workplace: You mention that you have a positive attitude, good behavior, and set good standards for others to follow at work. It would be interesting to expand on how these factors impact your success and advancement opportunities in the workplace.

3. Educational attainment and earning potential: You briefly mention that your education level is low, but it would be beneficial to delve deeper into how this affects your earning potential in the long term. You could consider comparing your potential income with that of someone who has graduated high school and received post-secondary education.

4. Current skills and talents and your future path: It would be insightful to explore the talents and skills you currently possess and whether they align with any specific industries or career paths. Are there any potential opportunities for you to utilize and advance these skills without further education?

5. Benefits/opportunities available to those with post-secondary education: You mention that there aren't many opportunities available to you without a high school diploma. You might want to explore the doors that could be opened for you if you had taken the path of receiving post-secondary education. This could include higher-paying jobs, career advancement possibilities, and access to specialized fields or industries.

6. Opportunity trade-offs in leaving school before graduation: You touch on the fact that your goals and dreams have been shattered by not being able to graduate and achieve good grades. It might be valuable to elaborate on the trade-offs you now face due to your decision, such as limited career options, potential regrets, or missed opportunities.

By considering these points and expanding on your story, you will provide a more comprehensive picture of what your future might look like without post-secondary education.
