  1. Qadratic equation;

    y=ax^2+bx+c

    In your case:

    a=3 b=-1 c=-4

    Discriminant: D=b^2-4ac

    D=(-1)^-4*3*(-4)

    D=1+48

    D=49

    When D>0 equation hawe two real solutions.

    x1=[-b-sqroot(b^2-4ac)]/2a

    x1=[-(-1)-sqroot(49)]/(2*3)

    x1=(1-7)/6

    x1= -6/6

    x1= -1

    x2=[-b+sqroot(b^2-4ac)]/2a

    x2=[-(-1)+sqroot(49)]/(2*3)

    x2=(1+7)/6

    x2=8/6

    x2=(2*4)/(2*3)

    x2=4/3

    x2=1.333333
