i don't entirely know about the spanish american war, but world war one was caused by many things. high tensions formed by various alliences, nationalism and the dividing of africa among european powers, had put the world on edge. these tensions exploded when a young serbian student assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand,of austria. war broke out, and because of the alliances between various nations, almost all of eurpoe was pulled into war. the us remaned nutral for the first part of the war. however, when a ship carrying supplies and passenger, some of which were american, was sunk by a german submariene the US vowed revenge and joined the great war on the side of the allies. with american aid, the central powers were defeated at the battle of the bulge. the war drew to a close with the sighning of the treaty of versille. (I forgot how to spell that so don't take my word on spelling but i'm an excelent historian.)

The United States entered the Spanish-American War and World War I for different reasons.

Spanish-American War:
The US became involved in the Spanish-American War in 1898 due to a combination of factors. One major factor was the sinking of the USS Maine, an American battleship, in Havana Harbor in February 1898. While the exact cause of the explosion remains uncertain, the incident was heavily publicized and fueled anti-Spanish sentiments in the US. Additionally, American newspapers sensationalized the news and printed exaggerated accounts of Spanish atrocities in Cuba, where rebellion against Spanish rule had been ongoing for years. This influenced public opinion and put pressure on the US government to intervene to protect American interests.

World War I:
The US entered World War I in 1917, two and a half years after the conflict had begun in Europe. Several key factors led to the US involvement in the war. One important catalyst was the unrestricted submarine warfare employed by Germany, particularly the sinking of the British passenger liner RMS Lusitania in 1915, which resulted in the deaths of over a thousand people, including 128 Americans. This incident generated public outrage in the US and pushed the country towards a stronger stance against Germany.

Another factor was the Zimmerman Telegram, intercepted by British intelligence and shared with the US in 1917. The telegram, sent by the German Foreign Secretary Arthur Zimmermann, proposed a military alliance between Germany and Mexico against the US. This revelation further swayed public opinion and created a sense of urgency for US involvement.

Furthermore, there were economic interests at stake for the US in the war. American banks had loaned significant amounts of money to the Allied countries, and American businesses sought new markets for their products, making them inclined to support the Allied cause.

To recap, the entry of the US into the Spanish-American War was largely driven by the sinking of the USS Maine and the desire to protect American interests in Cuba. On the other hand, the US joined World War I due to factors such as Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare, the sinking of the Lusitania, the Zimmerman Telegram, and economic interests.
