  1. take it like an equation. pretend the > sign is an equal sign.

    -2x +4 = 12.

    when your done, just substitute the sign back in, and flip it. (like this <)

  2. add 2x to both sides
    subtract 12 from both sides
    divide both sides by 2

    that should give you the answer.
