If line f is parallel to the line h, and line f has y-intercept 5, what is the equation of line f ? With h passing through two points (1, 2) and (3, 6)

REINY answered your earlier post and she said to try doing it yourself.

She did a similar example for you to follow. I pasted her example below.

Post your work if you get stuck.

slope of line through the two points = (6-2)/(3-1) = 2

so the slope of your new line = -1/2
since the slopes must be negative reciprocals of each other.

new equation:
y = (-1/2)x + b
but (2,2) lies on this
2 = (-1/2)(2) + b
3 = b

y = (-1/2)x + 3
