anyone???

A juggler throws a ball from height of 0.950 m with a vertical velocity of +4.25 m/s and misses it on the way down. What is its velocity when it hits the ground?
thanks.

the ball will have a speed of 4.25 m/s down at .95 m on the way down

v = Vi + a t
v = -4.25 - 9.8 t

h = Hi + Vi t + (1/2) a t^2
0 = .95 -4.25 t - 4.9 t^2

t = [ 4.25 +/- sqrt (18 +18.6)]/9.8
= 1.05 s
so
v = -4.25 - 9.8*1.05
= 14.6 m/s
