I agree with your first two answers. :-) But in # 3, (D) isn't an example of literate style oral language. There's a much better and clear answer for # 3.
<G> Ms Sue and I have a different take on 3. I would go with your answer. That sounds like a very age appropriate, literate response for a child.
Also look at #1 again... the child, who does not enter school being able to converse with other children his age, is not going to be able to learn as quickly and is not going to mainstream at all... I think. What does your book say about this one.
On question #1-- my text states:
The mismatch between children's early experience and school expectations seriously threaten the potential for school achievement. The area of literacy readiness is particularly vunerable to children's early
experiences.
On the third question- I know literate style oral language is refered to as decontextualized langauge, used in formal schooling. Informal language in the home is chacterized more by an
interpersonal style which there are many shared meanings among speakers.
That does not rely on words alone,but
on gestures,and facial expressions.
please help on question 1 and 3!
