Do you think us students should have to use yes or yes ma'am when answering teachers/ What do ya'pp prefer? And if so is there a comma between the words yes and ma'am/

  1. Yes, there is a common between yes, ma'am. No, I don't think it's necessary to say that. I think it's a bit old school. There are other ways to show respect besides that.

  2. I think it depends on 1) how the student normally acts and/or 2) where he/she lives. In Texas, for example, saying "Yes, ma'am" or "Yes, sir" is quite common although I haven't heard anyone except parents insisting on one of those specific responses.

    As long as the student is polite and respectful, I don't think there's a problem.
