Confused on what do to do for this paper I have to write for a class here in a community college. I am to choose a country in asia, africa or Latin America like say South Korea. I am to research recent history and contemporary situation. Identify and explain using factual information and political sicence evidence (statistcal data, govt reports, expert opinion etc.) - two of the most importanr economic, political and/or social problems facing that country; then I have to identify and explain at least two causes for each problem and defend at least one possible soultion to each problem; I should for atleast one of the problems focus on the role of the international community in causing or contributing to the cuae of the problem or assisting ot the soultion of the problem. Professor said in class that he wanted it like this One major problem facing _ is _ Two cuases of the problem are _ and _ and One possible solution is __. He also wants the paper double spaced, one -inch margins on word, 12 point font, title and page numbers. 1200 to 1800 words long. and should be in essay format with a works cited page. He calls then research projects.

As you read and study the guidelines for your report, it should become easier to organize it.
The primary thing you MUST do is to follow the researching/writing process:
Prewriting: Brainstorm, research, plan, outline, thesis statement
Writing: Write first draft by starting with section II of your outline; write the introduction after the body of the paper is written; write the conclusion last.
Polishing: Revise, concentrating first on the body of the paper, then the intro, then the concl (revision = making sure ideas are logical and sequential and support your thesis); proofread (spelling, grammar, usage, etc.)
Do you have a thesis yet? Have you done your brainstorming (and maybe research) yet? Have you written an outline?

I came up with the country in order to do on the conflict with North Korea. Yeah I could use a tip on researching what about the conflict I should focus on. I got a bit overwhelmed. and I also was lost on how to cite sources into a paper with footnotes and quotes.
Don't even think about footnotes and quotes for now. Just make sure that you copy all relevant information about the source when you take notes from it. Bookmark the websites you use for further reference.
Start with the background on South Korea. Then you can research more details about the current conflict with North Korea.
Since it only wants recent history I gather then I don't need to go back to far ago. So I should just stick to the most recent events? Or should I start with the korean war? Would it be wise to mention the Korean war briefly if it is important to the current events?
I would start with the creation of North and South Korea. Who decided to draw the boundary line where it is? How did this division come about?
Then go on with the Korean War and forward in time.
