This is not a thesis statement. It is factual, but YOUR OPINION about this topic is not stated.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your thesis statement must include factual information plus your position/opinion/stance. Without your position on the topic, it isn't a true thesis statement. So think of this sentence as the angle you want to take on the topic and what you intend to prove by the end of your paper. (If your statement is simply factual, then there's nothing to prove!)
This is one of the very best places I've seen online to help students write good thesis statements. It shows you sentences that aren't thesis statements and how to turn each one into real thesis statements.
Firstly, it's great that you have a clear topic for your essay on giving advice to high school students on how to be successful. Now, let's discuss your approach to creating arguments and developing your thesis statement.
To begin with, defining the term "successful" is a reasonable approach as it helps readers understand the context of your essay. Start by defining success in the context of high school, considering factors like academics, extracurricular activities, personal growth, and future prospects.
Next, comparing the experiences of unsuccessful and successful high school students is a valuable idea. This will enable you to highlight the common differences between them, such as study habits, time management, goal setting, and seeking help when needed. By presenting a clear comparison, you can build a strong case for the importance of advice in achieving success.
When it comes to your thesis statement, it needs a bit of refinement. To make it more effective, consider the following revision:
"Lack of adequate advice on improving learning skills often hinders the academic performance of many high school students, making it crucial to provide guidance in order for them to achieve success."
By rephrasing your thesis statement, you emphasize the significance of advice in enhancing learning skills and explicitly state the purpose of your essay.
Remember, a thesis statement should present a clear argument or position that your essay will explore and reinforce throughout. It acts as a roadmap for your readers, highlighting the main points you will discuss in support of your thesis.
Once you have your thesis statement, you can proceed with creating supporting arguments by providing specific advice and examples to help high school students improve their learning skills and be successful.
Good luck with your essay, and feel free to ask if you have any more questions!
