Subject: Concerns about the Proposed Budget Cut for Murdock County Sheriff's Department

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the recent conflict between County Supervisor Blanche Wilder and Murdock County Sheriff Al Peters over the county budget. Specifically, I am troubled by Supervisor Wilder's proposal to cut two officers from the Sheriff's Department.

Having listened to the sheriffs' radio broadcasts, I have become aware of the numerous dangerous and life-threatening situations where the deputies' quickest possible arrival time was already 20 to 30 minutes. As a resident of this county, this is an incredibly frightening situation to me.

Supervisor Wilder's proposal to reduce the number of officers in Sheriff Peters' department seems totally ridiculous. How does she expect Sheriff Peters to effectively run his department with an inadequate number of officers? It is beyond my comprehension to think that a large county like Murdock could possibly operate without a police presence. This proposal, if implemented, would unquestionably pose a grave threat to the safety and protection of the residents of our county.

It is crucial to acknowledge that the safety of our community should be our top priority. By cutting officers from the department, we are compromising the ability of law enforcement to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies. This could lead to dire consequences, and I fear that innocent lives may be put at risk.

I implore Supervisor Wilder to reconsider her proposal and to understand the potential negative impact it could have on the safety and security of Murdock County. Instead, it is essential that we prioritize providing the necessary resources to law enforcement to ensure the protection of our residents.

I hope that my concerns, shared by many fellow community members, will be taken into serious consideration by both Supervisor Wilder and Sheriff Peters. Our county's well-being is at stake, and it is crucial that we make decisions that prioritize the safety and security of our community.

Sincerely,
