Hello. Three quick questions that I have worked on just need confirmation. 1. I need to find the intercepts and then use them to graph the equation. 2y-6=2x; I have x = 0 for y - intercept; 2y-6=2(0); 2y-6 = 0; 2y = 6; y = 3. I set y at 0 also. 2 (0) - 6 = 2x; -6=2x; -3=x. so the points are

(-3,0), (0,3). 2. Identify the y - intercept. I used the formula y=mx+b; y intercept is (0,3); 3. I need to translate to an inequality: The amt of acid is not to exceed 300 liters. I said, x (the greater then or equal to sign here)300??
Thank you I just need some intelligent input! :)

Can someone please answer the questions I posted? Thank you.

Hello. I have worked on this and just need confirmation.

Amy, all of your calculations are correct; but I thought you should have

rearranged your Eq first:
y = mx + b. b is the y- Int.

2y - 6 = 2x.
2y = 2x + 6,
Divide both sides by 2:
y = x + 3.
b = 3 = y- Int.

Let y = 0:
Then x = -3 = x-Int.

Coordinates:
(0 , 3) , (-3 , 0).

Yes! Thank you I have since worked it out and have gotten the answer you came up with. :)

The graph of equation is expanded vertically by a factor of 3 and reflected over the x-axis. how would you describe the function?

Hello! Let's go through your questions one by one:

1. To find the intercepts and graph the equation 2y-6=2x, you correctly found the y-intercept by setting x = 0. Let's confirm your calculations:
When x = 0, the equation becomes 2y-6 = 2(0), which simplifies to 2y-6 = 0. Adding 6 to both sides, we get 2y = 6, and dividing both sides by 2 gives y = 3.
So the y-intercept is (0, 3).

Next, let's find the x-intercept by setting y = 0:
When y = 0, the equation becomes 2(0)-6 = 2x, which simplifies to -6 = 2x. Dividing both sides by 2, we get x = -3.
So the x-intercept is (-3, 0).

Therefore, the points on the graph of the equation 2y-6=2x are (-3, 0) and (0, 3), as you correctly stated.

2. To identify the y-intercept of the equation y=mx+b, where m represents the slope and b represents the y-intercept, you can directly see that the equation is already in the form y = mx + b.
In this case, the y-intercept is the point where the graph intersects the y-axis, which occurs when x = 0. As you correctly determined, the y-intercept is (0, 3).

3. To translate the phrase "The amount of acid is not to exceed 300 liters" into an inequality, let's use the variable x to represent the amount of acid. You correctly identified that it should be a "greater than or equal to" sign, denoted as ≥, since the amount should not exceed 300 liters. The inequality can be written as x ≥ 300.

Great job on your work! Your answers and calculations are correct. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask!
