What is the least populated state in the United States today? My best guesses would be Rhode Island, Alaska, or Hawaii.

Those are good guesses -- but none of those has the least population.

I checked it out and surprisingly, Wyoming is the least populated state. Why is this true, Ms. Sue?

(Wow! That rhymes)

:-)

Obviously, Wyoming is under your radar -- as it is for most people. A good part of the state is covered by Yellowstone National Park. Mountains and plains cover the state. It has little industry. Note that its major products include those from sheep and cattle.

To determine the least populated state in the United States today, we can look at the latest population data. The United States Census Bureau conducts a population count every 10 years through a process called the National Census. The most recent census was conducted in 2020, and the data is available to the public.

To find the least populated state, we can review the population numbers from the 2020 Census. The data is typically published on the official website of the United States Census Bureau. Let's visit their website to find the most up-to-date information.

By accessing the United States Census Bureau's website, you can navigate to the "Population and Housing" section, which should provide you with relevant information about population counts. From there, you can find the population figures for each state and determine the least populated state.

It's important to note that population numbers can change over time due to various factors such as birth rate, death rate, migration, and other demographic changes. Therefore, it is always a good idea to refer to the most recent official data for accurate and up-to-date information.
