Write each equation in standard form.

1.y-3=-2.4(x-5)

-The answer I got was 2.4x + y = 15.

Could someone please check my answer and tell me how to solve it if it wrong? Thanks

Yes, your answer is correct!

In the standard form of an equation, the coefficients are relatively prime integers, so

2.4x + y = 15 , times 5

12x + 5y = 75

Why did you multiply by 5?

in standard form, the coefficents are relatively prime integers.

So for this problem 3y + 2x = 4.5 it would be 30y + 20x = 45( I multiply all the term by factor of 10 to get rid of the decimals) then I would simplify it into 4x + 6y=9. Is this correct?

or just multiply the original equation by 2

6y + 4 x = 9 immediately
or
4x + 6y = 9

Thanks! I didn't think of that.
