what is the trend in bond length for o-h (.96A), s-h (1.341A) and n-h (1.005A). Explain the trend- do the calculated bond distances match the expected trend?
O has electronegativity of about 3.5, N is about 3.0, and S about 2.6. We would expect those elements to form a bond with H in the order OH closest (O is highest EN), NH middle (EN of N is between O and S), and SH should be the longest (weakest bond). So what do you think? Is the order as we would expect?
