The term "sociological" was coined in 1833 by Auguste Comte, a French philosopher and social thinker. Comte used this term to describe the scientific study of society and social behavior. He believed that by understanding the social world through scientific methods, society could progress and solve its problems. Comte's work laid the foundation for the discipline of sociology, and he is often referred to as the "father of sociology."
