I'm doing a lesson plan for preschoo children and it says sensory expirences and im not sure what that means can anyone please help?

Sensory experiences are those that involve one or more of our five senses -- hearing, tasting, tactile, seeing, smelling.

This site explains more and gives some suggestions for preschool sensory experiences.

One of my favorite sensory expeditions is to walk (barefooted) through foods...

beans, mashed potatoes, jello, crushed ice,

Kids have to be blindfolded.

This question was asked and answered (by me) weeks ago...

Thanks you ms sue and bobpursley

Of course! "Sensory experiences" refers to activities that engage a child's senses—sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell—in order to enhance their learning and understanding of the world around them. These experiences allow children to explore and investigate their environment using their senses, which can greatly contribute to their cognitive, physical, and social development.

To incorporate sensory experiences into your lesson plan for preschool children, you can consider the following:

1. Visual stimulation: Include activities that involve bright and colorful objects, visual aids, and pictures. For example, you can create a collage using different textured materials or have a scavenger hunt to find specific objects of various colors.

2. Auditory stimulation: Incorporate activities with different sounds, such as musical instruments, listening to nature sounds, or playing with sound-producing toys. You can have a "sound matching" activity where children identify and match objects with their corresponding sounds.

3. Tactile stimulation: Engage the sense of touch by including opportunities for children to feel different textures, like sand, water, fabric, or various natural materials. Provide playdough or clay for children to manipulate and shape with their hands.

4. Gustatory stimulation: Introduce activities that involve taste, such as cooking or baking projects, taste-testing different flavors, or exploring different types of foods. Ensure the activities are safe and consider any dietary restrictions or allergies.

5. Olfactory stimulation: Include activities that involve smelling different scents, such as flowers, fruits, herbs, or scented materials. You can set up a sensory table with containers of various scented items for children to explore and identify.

It's essential to provide a balanced mix of sensory experiences in your lesson plan to cater to different learning styles and engage children's curiosities. Adapting the activities to suit each child's developmental abilities and interests can help create a rich and meaningful sensory learning environment.
