Help! I pushed the wrong key, I guess.

I think I clicked on the cursor when it was at the "measure bar at the top of the page that displays "1...2...3..4.."
I have a paragraph written. I want to indent the second line. The first word on the second line is "coach." When I go to the second line and hit the "tab" key, everything disappears from the line except the "c" which appears at the end of the blank line. The same thing happens if I try to "tab" the third line.
I have even tried doing a "Select All" and copying the document into a new Microsoft Word file, but the same problem exists.
How do I fix this?

The only other thing I can think of is to exit the document, and when it asks if you want to save, click on No.

Then start over. All the default settings will return when you open a new file.

It seems that you are experiencing an issue with indenting lines in Microsoft Word. Let's go through the steps to fix the problem:

1. Open your document in Microsoft Word.
2. Go to the line where you want to indent the second line, which starts with the word "coach."
3. Click at the beginning of the line, right before the "c" in "coach."
4. Press the "Tab" key on your keyboard.

If pressing the "Tab" key doesn't work as expected and causes the text to disappear, it is likely due to the formatting or settings in your document. Here are a few potential solutions:

Option 1: Check the Paragraph Settings
1. Select the line that you want to indent.
2. Right-click on the selected text and choose "Paragraph" from the drop-down menu.
3. In the "Paragraph" dialog box that appears, navigate to the "Indents and Spacing" tab.
4. Look for the "Special" section and make sure it is set to "None."
5. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Option 2: Remove Formatting
1. Select the line(s) that you want to indent.
2. Press the "Ctrl + Spacebar" keys simultaneously to remove any existing formatting from the selected text.

If these options don't resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a different problem specific to your document. You could also try updating your Microsoft Word software or seeking further assistance from Microsoft support.
