Is there a verb for "question someone doubtfully or suspiciously"?

Are you doubtful or suspicious of what the other person's answers would be?

Or is the person asking the question doubtful or suspicious?

I am not sure there's one specific verb that would cover either concept, but there's a big difference in those questions above.
