Math/Algebra

Solve the following system of equations.
x+7y=8 (1)
x=2-7y (2)
What is the solution of the system? Type the ordered pair state that there is no solution.

I don't understand what they are asking me to do. Should I use #2 in equation #1 or something else?

  1. x+7y = 8
    x+7y = 2
    x+7y can not be both 8 and 2.
    These two straight lines have the same slope. They never intersect. There is no solution.
