How will you make a 200 mL solution of 1 mM
sucrose from a 0.1 M sucrose solution?
1. Mix 20 mL of the 100 mM sucrose and
180 mL of water.
2. Mix 50 mL of the 100 mM sucrose and
150 mL of water.
3. Mix 1 mL of the 100 mM sucrose and 199
mL of water.
4. Mix 10 mL of the 100 mM sucrose and
190 mL of water.
5. Mix 2 mL of the 100 mM sucrose and 198
mL of water.

  1. I suppose the answer is #5 but technically, none of the answers is correct.
    0.1 M is 100 mM.
So take 2 mL of the 100 mM solution and dilute to a final volume of 200 mL. Hote that is NOT (repeat NOT) the same as 2 mL of the 100 mM solution and adding 198 mL water.
