how do yo use a protracter

Answered in the original post. It is better if you post your own question instead of piggy backing on another. Generally, your question gets answered faster as an original post. Thanks for using Jiskha.

These sites explain how to use a protractor.

To use a protractor, follow these steps:

1. Place the protractor on the paper or surface where you need to measure an angle. Make sure that the base line of the protractor aligns with one side of the angle you want to measure.

2. Identify the vertex of the angle, which is the point where the two sides of the angle come together.

3. Look at the scale on the protractor. It is divided into 180 degrees, with 0 degrees starting at the right side of the base line and going counter-clockwise until reaching 180 degrees at the left side of the base line.

4. Locate one of the sides of the angle on the protractor's scale. Align the side with the base line of the protractor.

5. Now, observe where the other side of the angle intersects the protractor scale. This point gives you the measurement of the angle.

6. Read the angle measurement by looking at the number on the scale where the second side intersects. It may be a whole number or a fraction of a degree.

That's it! You have successfully used a protractor to measure an angle.
