  1. First you need to replace the x in the original equation with the given variable 48-7y
    8(48-7y) + 3y = -40
    384 -56y +3y=-40

    -56y + 3y = -40 - 384
    -53y = -424
    -53y/-53=-424/-53
    y=8 x=-8

    Ordered pair (8,-8)
